The true personal story of one of the best rock bands of all time

For a time The Boomtown Rats were the most successful rock band on the planet, and their leader Bob Geldof revolutionised global music broadcasting with his hugely successful Live Aid concert in 1985. The band broke up a year later in their native Dublin then re-united in 2013 to play a triumphant set at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival. The Boomtown Rats continue to play live all over the world and in 2020 released a new album Citizens of Boomtown.

This is the true personal story of one of the best rock bands of all time, who not only changed themselves, they also changed Ireland, the UK’s punk scene and, with Bob Geldof’s vision, revolutionised the world. With exclusive access to personal archives and interviews with the four original members of the Boomtown Rats (Bob Geldof, Garry Roberts, Pete Briquette and Simon Crowe) the film also features compelling insights from special guests including Bono, Sting, Sinead O’Connor and Dave Stewart, amongst others.
